Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 30, 2026
Beyond Allowance ("we," "us," "the app") is operated by Jordan Luster, pending formation of Beyond Allowance LLC, a Missouri company. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have as a parent or guardian.
Beyond Allowance is currently in closed beta testing. It is not available to the general public, and only families we have personally invited are using it.
Who can use Beyond Allowance
Beyond Allowance is a family financial education tool. A parent or legal guardian creates the family account and adds child profiles. Children do not create their own independent accounts and do not provide consent themselves. The parent or guardian who sets up the family account gives consent on behalf of every child profile added to that account.
Information we collect
From the parent or guardian:
- Email address used to create and log into the account
- Name, if provided
From child profiles, entered by the parent or guardian:
- First name only, no last name is requested
- Approximate age or grade level, no exact birthdate is requested
- A PIN the parent sets for the child to log into their profile, stored in hashed form, never as plain text
- Chore, allowance, savings goal, and simulated transaction data entered within the app
We do not collect photos or video of children, precise location data, government-issued identifiers, Social Security numbers, or real bank account or payment card information from children.
How we use this information
We use the information collected only to operate the app's core features: tracking chores, simulated allowance and savings, family fund activity, and goal progress. We do not use children's information for advertising, do not sell it, and do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
Third parties
Beyond Allowance runs on Supabase for data storage and Vercel for web hosting. These providers store data on our behalf under their own security and data processing agreements. We do not use third-party advertising networks, behavioral tracking, or analytics tools that collect data from child users.
Parental rights
As the parent or guardian who set up the account, you can at any time:
- Review everything stored about your child by contacting us directly
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your family's account and all associated data
- Withdraw consent and stop your child from using the app
To do any of this, email getbeyondallowance@gmail.com. We will respond promptly and no later than 45 days from your request.
Data retention
We keep your family's data only as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we remove your data within 30 days, except where limited records must be retained for legal or security purposes.
Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encrypted storage, hashed PINs, and database-level access controls that isolate each family's data from every other family's data.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
Beyond Allowance is designed for use by children under 13 with direct, verified parental consent and involvement at setup. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the app's features, and we do not condition a child's participation on providing more information than is reasonably necessary for that purpose.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify the parent or guardian on file before the changes take effect.
